Dogs on Trails

Dogs on Trails

Our group Help the Strays St. Anthony and Area has started a  campaign “Walking your dog is good for you – and good for the dog”. We want to promote dog walking and better health of humans and the beautiful hiking trails on the Northern Peninsula. If you have a nice picture (or several ones) of one of your dogs on a hiking trail, we would love to publish it on our website.

Please write the name of the dog, the name of the hiking trails, where does the trail start and where does it end, and anything interesting about the trail (maybe how long it takes to walk it?). Only if you like, you can add why you think it is important to walk dogs. Please send any pictures to noddy-bay@hotmail.com. Your contribution might help that more people walk their dogs in our area!

Stuckless Pond Hiking Trail in Gros Morne
9.5 km return
takes about 3-4 hours
We did the trail in May and since there were so many blown down trees to climb over on the trail it actually took us closer to 5 hours to complete. (All photos copyright Caryn Smith)

Caryn says: “I think dogs need to explore their world and enjoy the fresh air just like we do. Plus, a tired, exercised dog is a good dog.”

Violet says: “When I pick up the leash, Lucky dances with joy! He loves going to the beach with me and we are beachcombing together.”
