Tanner lost his home because his owners moved house and could not have him anymore. Tanner is in a foster home right now but he needs a permanent home. He is fixed, dewormed, only one and a half years old.

He is a very sweet cat, a little shy at first, he likes to talk to you in softly murmured sounds. He loves to cuddle and has no shred of aggression in him.

He has an elegant built with long legs and a slender body. There might be some Egyptian cat breed in him.

Can you give Tanner the loving home that he deserves? He will reward you with tenderness and companionship. Please call Violet at (709) 454 4024.

!!!!Update: Micky (see below) is now in a good home in Norris Point!!!

The cat that survived being caught in a fox snare

This gorgeous tabby is looking for a forever home!

Micky was only skin and bones when he was rescued (all photos Calonego).

Micky today, alert and with a shiny, silky fur

Micky is a beautiful, friendly tabby cat with a horrendous experience.

Our group Help the Strays St. Anthony and Area read about this poor cat in a Facebook chat. Somebody mentioned an abandoned cat in Nameless Cove who had a rabbit snare around its neck. We were alarmed and tried to find out more.
It turned out the cat had been hanging around a house begging for food. It was starving. The cat has had the snare around its neck for several weeks! And it was not the first time, the people in Nameless Cove told us. A man was able to take off the first snare around the cat`s neck. But then it came back with another snare! Did somebody try to kill the cat, we wonder?
This time, the cat was so scared that the people said they could not approach it.

The cat had this fox snare around its neck for several weeks.

We advised them to bait the cat with food and entice it to follow them into an enclosed space where we could catch it. They were able to do this and they locked the cat into a wood shed attached to the house. A member of our group drove at once to Nameless Cove.

The cat in the shed was actually quite friendly, it could be picked up and then the snare was finally taken off. It looked more like a fox snare. The wire had left scars around the cat`s neck. A tiny piece of wire still stuck in its skin. The cat was completely emaciated.

It got food in the cat carrier and went crazy over it! It was taken to a foster home in Noddy Bay where it got lots of good food and tender care.

Micky`s fur is now shiny and silky and soft. Micky is a unneutered tom cat, probably about one year old. Today, it looks astonishingly healthy. He is cuddly and loves to be picked up and caressed. He purrs his brain out when you scratch him around his head and neck. He also likes tummy rubs. And he loves to sleep in your bed!

He can get very attached to a person because he never wants to be abandoned and out in the cold again.

He is using the litter box, and his favourite food is chicken.

Micky`s recovery is a small miracle! This cat went through a terrible ordeal and survived. He deserves a home where he can feel safe for the rest of his life.

If you are interested in Micky and would like to get more information or if you would like to see him first and interact with him (no strings attached), please call Bernadette at 709 623 25 36.

We are looking for a forever home for Micky and a very understanding owner.
If you adopt Micky, our sponsors will pay for having him fixed.

Micky enjoys life again

He is an affectionate, cuddly cat that likes to be picked up.

Happy to be playing instead of starving to death.

Micky is very laid back and he likes to sleep a lot.
